13/04 - The Start and Explaination

However you may of found this page - a friend, an accident, whatever it might be - welcome. Basically, the page you are looking upon now is a theory in the making. The "Spock" theory, a work in progress, a theory about life - how to deal with it, make the best of it and how to work with what you have.

The Name and the Theory
For all those who aren't Star Trek savvy, Spock is a character, the character in fact this theory is based on. Why? Well, Spock's way of thinking, although he might be a fictional being, is actually pretty clever. He is part human, through his mother's side, giving him the ability to feel emotion, and part Vulcan - a race of aliens who live by only using logic and reason, not letting emotions interfere.
This all seems a little insane, I agree, having a theory based on a species that doesn't exist, but the idea really is quite simple: to not to let either emotion or logic rule us. To have a balance in all decision making we do, as emotions can change quickly and decisions made by them can be rash and harmful, and logic can make good choices but if you cannot feel it would make no different if you were making a good choice, or a bad one. Therefore - The Spock Theory, the perfect balance.

The Inspiration and Explanation
As I have already mentioned, this character from Star Trek was a pretty good source of inspiration but I has only realised after I had started thinking about the whole logic vs. emotion thing. The real reason this whole theory was started is after quite some time of listening to issues and giving advice, I realised I was giving the same advice over and over again, and really what people needed was not someone to tell them what to do, but give them a way to figure it out themselves. What I was generally being was the logic in everyone's emotional equation, but as one person cannot know everything about a situation, finding your own logic as well as emotion in a situation would benefit everyone better.
This IS a self-help theory, but only in a sense that it's not promising to make your life better, but showing you ways to simply deal with life as it comes.
